Missing and Sought After: First Signal from Voyager 2 Spacecraft!

Ana sayfa / Popular Science

NASA continues to explore the universe with the dozens of spacecraft it has sent into space. The space agency recently made headlines with a rather interesting piece of news. NASA lost communication with the Voyager 2 spacecraft, which was sent into space in 1977. However, today’s news reveals that new information has been received from the spacecraft. Here are the details!

Signal received from Voyager 2 spacecraft!

Recently, we reported that NASA lost communication with the Voyager 2 spacecraft, which was sent into space in 1977. Following this news, a series of updates have come to light. The space agency announced that they have received a signal from the spacecraft they had lost communication with.

Last week, the Voyager 2 spacecraft experienced difficulties in establishing communication with the team due to a 2-degree shift in its antenna. As a result, the spacecraft ceased to receive commands from Earth and encountered problems with transmitting data back to Earth.

NASA backs 11 space tech firms with $150m funding!

NASA allocates $150 million in funding to eleven cutting-edge space tech companies, including Blue Origin and Astrobotic.

Suzanne Dodd, the Voyager Interstellar Mission Project Manager at NASA, made a written statement regarding the situation. In her statement, she confirmed that the spacecraft is still operational and communicating through the “Deep Space Network,” a global network of radio antennas known as the “Deep Space Array.” Furthermore, she mentioned that signals have been received from Voyager 2.

Despite these developments, Suzanne Dodd stated that the experts at the facility in California continue their efforts. According to the statement, the experts are preparing to take steps to reorient the Voyager 2 antenna towards Earth. However, if things don’t go as planned, they may have to wait until October to proceed with the necessary actions.

Meanwhile, the Voyager 1 spacecraft, which is in contact with the Earth, is currently located at a distance of 24 billion kilometers. Voyager 2, on the other hand, is nearly 20 billion kilometers away. Considering this situation, it will take approximately 18 hours for the signal to reach Earth.

So, what are your thoughts on the signal status of Voyager 2? Don’t forget to share your comments with us in the comments section!
